Plastic Products In Taiwan This Year's Economic Recovery To Benefit Thai Exports

Thai think tank Kasikorn Research Center, 23, said that in 2010 Taiwan's exports to Thailand with the trend of Taiwan's economic recovery and growth.

The think tank pointed out that began in late 2008 to make Taiwan the world's economic crisis affected the purchasing power of its trading partners, resulting in total value of Taiwan's exports has been shrinking, thereby affecting the overall economic development. 2009 Taiwan's economic contraction of 5.8% of gross domestic product (GDP) from the third quarter of 2008 began to shrink, but in just one and a half years, Taiwan's economy has been able to quickly recover the fourth quarter of 2009, economic growth has been rebound to growth of 8.4%.

Data show that in January this year, Thailand and Taiwan trade surged over last year, total trade grew 67.9%, Thailand's exports to Taiwan increased by 96.0%, Thailand's total value of imports from Taiwan increased by 58.4%, while the 2008 and 2009 total trade, the two sides were shrinking 1.6% and 20.7%. Although the substantial increase in export value is based on the 2009 Spring Festival of the lower base of comparison, but still reflects the improvement in bilateral trade between Thailand and Taiwan.

Taiwan's economy will benefit from the recovery of the Thai export products include printed circuit boards, computer equipment and spare parts, chemical products, cassava products, rubber, and steel, plastic pellets, machinery and spare parts, semiconductors, diodes, capacitors. In addition, the impending signing of the cross-strait economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA) will give Thai exports of intermediate products such as printed circuit boards in Taiwan, electronics, petroleum, plastics and chemical fiber products such as benefits, as Taiwan has to import from Thailand in the middle processed products exported to mainland China.

However, the cross-strait economic cooperation framework agreement will also lead to Thailand's export products in the Chinese mainland market for Taiwan products, competition, while in the Taiwan market products face competition from mainland China, which is Thailand's export sector will have to face challenges.

The think tank also believes that Thailand imports from Taiwan also tend to growth, including printed circuit boards, chemical products, iron and steel products, electrical and mechanical equipment and spare parts, as well as fresh / frozen / processed / semi-processed aquatic products, yarn and fiber, metal products, textile, metal ores, scrap metal and other products.

However, the trend of bilateral trade between Thailand and Taiwan, both the purchasing power of the recovery depends on the stability of the economic recovery and the trading partners of both economic measures. As the economy is recovering, the appropriate measures to stimulate the economy is still necessary for stable economic growth, while steady economic growth will drive the steady growth of bilateral trade between Thailand and Taiwan.
